The Allard was another British-bodied, American-powered sports car, but from a decade earlier. Though it was built in Europe, its beating New World heart—in this case, a classic hot rodder’s Cadillac V8—gives it pride of place in our category. This particular car was raced by none other than Carroll Shelby at the start of his racing career. Shelby credited his work on this fantastic J2X with influencing his work on the famed AC-bodied, Ford-powered Shelby Cobra a few years later. Shelby had barely begun driving in competition when in March 1952 Louisiana businessman Charlie Brown hired the young Texan to drive his Cadillac-Allard, #J2179, at the SCCA-sanctioned Pottsboro hill climb. Shelby deftly handled the over-powered racer, overwhelming the competition and serving notice of his considerable talents. Two more wins in SCCA regional races earned Shelby widespread recognition as a consistent winner.

Being overwhelmed with this car I took to it like a baby.. I first used Super Seal with Teflon i did it twice in some areas gently cleaning her duco and preparing her.. Then I gave this glorious car a coat of 'O',Wax Pure Carnauba which really brings out the shine.. The only Achilles heal of 'O' WAX Carnauba rich glossy wet look it needs to be locked in.. So Porzelack has Brilliant Lacquer locks in the shine....

and the old girl looked sensational.. How grand old race cars looked.. Thanks Joe.. One more thing ticked off in the bucket list.. Peter Porzelack
