HOW TO REDUCE SCRATCHES WHEN POLISHING
Posted by PETER PORZELACK on
I have seen so many people that actually are the reason they have scratch's in their paint work..
How? firstly people don't wash there cars with two buckets one a soap bucket and another as a rinse rinse bucket..
This is important, again a better way is a foam applicator then a pressure cleaner at low pressure, the less you touch your paint work the less scratches you have..
We know we need to touch so the first thing before polishing make sure you look at your applicators and cloths , 99% of scratches are coming from them..
Don't let your applicators dry out with product in them, don't let your cloths be used over and over again. After use put applicators and cloths in a bucket of clean water and let them soak..
When washing your cloths, don't use softly or powder detergent use a mild dish washing soap on cold water delicate setting and let them dry naturally don't use your dryer..It cause burs in your cloths...
Once your cloths and applicators are clean put them in a zip lock bag.. This stops any further dust from and contaminants from settling on your cloths..
I usually write the date to remind me when i bought them, nothing lasts for ever..
I know cloths and applicators can be costly but you can by applicators for 60 cents that way when you use them they can be thrown out.. With cloths once they are old they make good workshop engine cloths. They still have more value just not as polishing cloths.
I tell you this will be the best money you will spend and less work you do to maintaining a car which has less scratches....
Remember all polishes need to be shaken well before use that is a must..
These are just some of my tips.. To maintaining a great surface.
Also keep in mind old cars have scratches it identifies their age, so preservation is the most common approach to preserving history..It is like wrinkles..It defines who we are..and where we have been..
PS: at Porzelack Polish we like give applicators and applicators with our polish so buy all before heading home..
