PORSCHE SPEEDSTER 1957 356 A GETS SOME PORZELACK POLISH PRESERVING.. A SIGNIFICANT SUPER RARE CAR

Posted by PETER PORZELACK on

The Porsche 356 is a sports car which was first produced by Austrian company Porsche (1948–1949), It was Porsche's first production automobile by the company others had been made but this was considered to be the first.

The 356 is a lightweight and nimble-handling, rear-engine, rear-wheel drive, two-door available both in hardtop coupé and open configurations. Engineering innovations continued during the years of manufacture, contributing to its Motorsports success and popularity. Production started in 1948 at Austria, where approximately 50 cars were built. In 1950 the factory relocated to Zuffenhausen , Germany, and general production of the 356 continued until April 1965, well after the replacement model 911 made its autumn 1963 debut. Of the 76,000 originally produced, approximately half have survived.

The original price in 1948 for the 356 coupe was in the US$3,750. The 356 cabriolet cost US$4,250.That equates with inflation to about $116,000 US in today's money.

In early 1957 a second revision of the 356 A was produced, known as Type 2 (or T2). Production of the Speedster peaked at 1,171 cars in 1957 and then started to decline. The four-cam "Carrera" engine, initially available only in the spyder race cars, became an available option starting with the 356 A.

In 1957 only 22 right hand 356 A's were made world wide...Wow.

It was a lot of money then and a lot of money now... but considering these cars are worth 10 times that now it would have been a prudent investment.

The customer wants this car to stay exactly the way it is in its raw form.. no correction no rectification just preserving.

This car has had some Super Seal with Teflon, added to stop the further deterioration and oxidisation of the paint. I have started a process of slowly adding O wax which is the hardest natural wax.. It has only received one coat, but will receive many after three weeks of settling in. We are letting the paint take in the Porzelack Polish before further putting more Porzelack Polish. In such a significant classic car patience is paramount.

I am so lucky to have seen and touched this car.

I recently read a article where classic car enthusiasts were asked what car would they pay more for a paint correction classic or a preserved classic.. 9 out of 10 said preserved classic..

They say to see paint swirls and all imperfections means the car has stood the test of time.. Yes i am biased but i was truly amazed that i have seen and touched such a significant car.. So for this i am truly thankful  to my customer..

Will keep you updated with the progress.. This car is a year older than Porzelack Polish that is impressive for both car and Porzelack Polish.

Proudly made in Germany since 1958..

Remember see the difference feel the difference and remember to protect your investment no matter what it is..

Peter Porzelack..
