GREAT AMERICAN AIR BATTLES

Of World War 11
Published by Airlife Publsihing Ltd. – 1994 ( 154 pages )
American airmen fought many great battles during 1942 – 1945, none more so than in the Pacific and European Theatre of Operations.
Europe was considered the ‘ Big League ‘ in aerial warfare with American air forces based in Britain, North Africa and Italy and ranged against the Luftwaffe.
A high price was paid as the US Army Air Forces went to war in daylight, often without escort duelling with the Axis over the battlefronts. There were great victories too – ‘ The Big Day ‘ in January 1945, when carrier-borne aircraft showed the world just what conventional American air power was capable of.

FOCUS ON FLIGHT

The Aviation Photography of Hans Groenhoff

Published by Smithsonian Institution Press – 1985 ( 197 pages )
From Gliders to Piper Cubs, Wacos, and Staggerwing Biplanes, from DC-3’s to dc-10’s, from Learjet's to Phantoms, Hans Groenhoff chased them all, sat in them, flew them and posed them for his cameras and eventually becoming one of the world’s outstanding aviation photographers. As you turn the pages, you recognise and appreciate how much diligence and dedication were spent to reflect the splendor and excitement of that flying age, and the conquest of the skies.
